Discover your creative side

The South Shore Arts Education Department has created these art kits, which are free to download, and provide a list of suggested materials, resources, and art project instructions. The kits are designed to be appropriate for a wide range of age groups and can easily be tailored to meet the needs of your specific group. Whether you are using these kits in the home or in the classroom, your young artists will be exposed to master artists, utilize a variety of art materials, and practice new creative processes.


Story Quilt Kit

Learn about Harlem Renaissance author and painter, Faith Ringgold. Utilize paper quilt squares, yarn, and ModPodge to create your own story quilt in the style of Ringgold.


Self portrait kit

Learn about sculptor and portrait painter, Amedeo Modigliani. Utilize liquid glue on black paper with dry pastel to create a self portrait in the style of Modigliani.


Torn Landscape Kit

Learn about painter and pioneer artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, and her landscape paintings. Utilize watercolor paints with a variety of household materials to create unique painted papers and tear them to create a layered mountain landscape.


Mosaic sculpture kit

Learn about master artist, Antoni Gaudí and his Park Güell sculptures. Utilize paper construction materials to construct a 3D sculpture and add detail with colorful paper mosaic.


visual journal KIT

Learn about master artist, Leonardo da Vinci and his sketchbooks. Utilize book-binding, wet and dry materials to construct a visual journal and fill it with images and text to inspire future masterpieces.


Recycled Collage kit

Learn about community activist and public artist, Tyree Guyton, and his neighborhood project. Utilize collage materials, including re-used items, and create your own embellished home design.
